This was a painstaking decision that was not taken lightly. We believe any other action would merely postpone the inevitable.
The group considered all aspects of this move, taking into consideration the views of parents, children and educational services. We wish we were in a situation to be able to offer to keep the school open. However, given Falkirk Council’s finances which are hitting services across the area, this is not a viable option.
Ultimately, we believe that the children of Blackness will be able to enjoy a rich educational experience with a managed transition to Grange Primary. We recognise that transitions are always difficult but given the crossover of teaching staff, the established links with Grange Primary and proximity of the schools, we are confident that the young people will have as smooth an experience as possible.”
